How to Properly Install a Roof

When hiring a roof installation contractor, be sure to look at their past work and talk to their customers. Make sure the contractor has experience installing your particular type of roofing material and has the proper licenses and insurance. It is also a good idea to check their crew's experience and safety procedures before hiring them. If they don't have enough experience to do a quality job, you might want to consider another roofer.

The first step of the roofing installation process is to remove the old roof. This is necessary to install new underlayment and flashing. You should also remove old nails from the roof. If you're doing it yourself, you can use a hammer to flatten them to prevent damaging the new shingles. Also, make sure to place tarps under your roof to protect the landscaping. The tarps should be at least 3 feet above the edge of the roof. It is important that you wear sturdy shoes to protect your feet from the roof. Learn more about roofing, go here

Another step in the roof installation process is installing a water barrier. This will prevent water from penetrating the roof and causing damage. These barriers are placed along the edges of the roof and nailed to prevent them from blowing away. They also protect the new roof from water damage. The final step is ensuring your roof is free of leaks.

If your roof installation includes installing a vent, make sure to install them correctly. You should also make sure you install vent flashing over the vent hole. You should use a roofing gun to nail down these flashings on the side wall. If you're not sure how to do this, you can use a utility knife to cut the exposed shingles. Some vent flashings are covered with plastic to prevent water from getting inside. You can  read more  about  roofing here.

A new roof is a great way to update your home and increase its curb appeal. A roofing contractor can also recycle the old asphalt shingles. If you opt to go with this option, you may want to have a secondary dumpster delivered a day or two before the new roof installation. In that case, your roofing contractor will need to dispose of the old shingles. They should also pick up stray nails and sharp objects that have fallen off the roof.

Some pro roofers install starter shingles on the gable ends. These should be hung about half an inch over the rip edge. Likewise, the eaves should be overlapped two to three inches. The top ridge cap should be the last shingle to be installed. The final shingles should be nailed with two nails on each side.

During the installation of felt paper, you should measure the height of the shingles that you're going to install. This will help prevent any water from leaking under the lower rows of shingles. Also, you should measure the distance from the drip edge to the top of the roof. You should mark this distance with a chalk line. If there is any extra length, cut off the three tabs from the first row and save the rest for later. Take a   look at this link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roofing  for more information.
